KARACHI: Some of the senior officers of Pakistan Customs have strongly criticised the management section of Federal Board of Revenue and demanded the FBR Chairman and Member Customs to take immediate notice of its incompetency and inefficiency.
They were of the view that the management section of FBR was violating and ignoring the service rules and regulations and not following the ESTA Code, as many illegal promotions have been done in Pakistan Customs Service and Inland Revenue Service.
The senior officers of Pakistan Customs Service have claimed that many junior officers have been promoted as assistant collectors on the basis of nepotism, adding that the same pattern was followed in Inland Revenue Service, where ex-cadre of assistant collectors and senior auditors have been promoted as assistant commissioners and deputy commissioners.
They further revealed that some employees of below Grade-16 are working in different departments of Pakistan Customs as officers and they should be verified by independent sources.
They demanded that the management section should work as an independent entity and should directly report to the Chairman FBR.
They suggested FBR to form an independent human resource management for all kinds of management related matters, so that more transparency could be prevailed at the time of recruitment.
They also recommended the top brass of FBR to check the record of the Customs officials below Grade-16, as many of the suspended, dismissed and even jailed officials were enjoying their services in field formation offices of MCC Appraisement-East, MCC Appraisement-West, MCC Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, MCC Preventive and MCC Exports due to their political backing.
