SIALKOT: The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has welcomed the announcement by Federal Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan regarding installation of scanners at all the ports, airports and dry ports to ensure checking of export consignments without opening containers.
Talking to reporters, SCCI President Fazal Jillani hailed the decision and hoped that the exporters’ complaints regarding damages of the export consignments and their physical examination by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) would come to an end.
He said it was a big demand of the perturbed Sialkot exporters. The installation of scanners would facilitate the Sialkot exporters, besides, giving them much relief, Jillani added.
It would be a great relief to the export sector as presently the exporters of Sialkot were worried due to the ANF checking and unorganised handing of export consignments, he added.
Jillani expressed gratitude to the commerce minister for assuring to clear all outstanding sales tax refund dues next month.
He said that pendency of refund claims has assumed critical situation besides creating immense financial problems for the exporters. He said that clearance of refund claims and zero-rating to the entire export sector would immensely facilitate the exports.
He said, “It has been our longstanding demand, which the present government, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has accepted and decided to introduce it in the best interest of the export sector.”
He hoped that the decisions would be implemented at the earliest to create conducive environment for the export sector to flourish and to achieve unprecedented growth of exports in the coming years having the facility of GSP Plus Status.
