ISLAMABAD:  The Supreme Court of Pakistan has accepted the petition filed by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) against the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenues Chairman Shahid Masood Manzar for hearing. it is learnt here.

Sources in FBR told Customs Today that FBR has also decided to consult with Law Division regarding its reservations on Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenues, where 40,000 of tax-related cases and appeals are under hearing involving billion of revenue and the board is facing a huge revenue loss due to corruption in Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenues,

Sources also said that senior officers and member Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenues Shahid Dhalon are busy in lobbying to get the chairmanship of the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenues; however, Shahid Dhalon has also had bad reputation in the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenues, and most of the cases are getting delayed and decided against the departments which are causing a heavy lose to national exchequer, sources added.

It is important to mention here that earlier Federal Board of Revenue with the consultation of law division contacted government for early resolution and to define the time frame for the cases conclusion in the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue under the Article 186 of Constitution of Pakistan.
