ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has directed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to settle 3,350 pending appeals within three months.
The FBR’s Chief Law Officer, Muhammad Akram, and Law officer Habib Qurashi appeared before the three-member bench to submit the report regarding the pending appeals.
Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali asked why the commissioner of Inland Revenue (IR) Appeals and collector of Customs Appeals have failed to settle the cases on time.
As per details, 1,739 appeals are pending with a commissioner of IR Appeals while 617 are pending with Customs Appeals.
The chief law officer requested the court to grant three months for deciding pending appeals. The courts accepted the request and directed him to present the report after three months.
