ISLAMABAD: Fawaz Saud Alotaibi, Drug Liaison Officer, Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia at Islamabad, made a courtesy call on the Director General, Intelligence and Investigation Federal Board of Revenue, Islamabad Shaukat Ali at Directorate General Headquarter.
During the visit, Saudi drug liaison officer discussed matters of mutual interest with Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigations Shaukat Ali. The discussion included, inter-alia, the scope of cooperation between the customs authorities of two brother countries and exploring the ways of benefitting from the mutual experiences especially in the fields of interdiction of drug trafficking and use of advanced technologies to effectively apprehend and prevent the menace of drug trafficking.
Saudi drug liaison officer lauded the efforts of Customs I&I for action against Drug traffickers. It is important to mention here that Saudi Arabia had donated the drugs scanning equipment to Pakistan worth Rs.48.2 million in April last year.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were co-operating in the fight against Illicit trafficking in narcotics drugs, psychotropic substance and precursor chemicals.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has donated three sets of body scanners to Pakistan in order to enhance the operational capabilities. Customs I&I sources revealed to Customs Today that Saudi Arabia will provide the latest equipment to Customs Intelligence and Investigation.
