PESHAWAR: Customs North Region Chief Collector inaugurated a Customs Welfare Shop at the Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar in order to facilitate the employees.
Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira visited Peshawar Customs to review the performance of the collectorate where Collector Qurban Ali Khan briefed her about the automation process in the department.
The step has been taken in order to generate more revenues for customs and facilitate the staff on the premises. The employees will be provided goods, which were confiscated by the customs staff during different actions in the region at cheaper rates.
Beside the collector, other high rank officials of the Customs House and guests were also present on the occasion. The fair price shop was aimed to generate revenue on those smuggled goods which confiscates by the custom official at various points from the smugglers.
The items displaced for sale were included smuggled cloths illegally imported from Afghanistan and other valuable goods of daily usage. A portion of warehouse has been specified for the shop where several workers will perform duty. A committee will be formed to run the fair price shop. The committee will evaluate the prices of things
It is pertinent to mention that custom also hold two days open auction which was participated by people from different walk of life and purchased goods and necessary stuff. Auction for 18 precious cars was also held in the house.
