SARGODHA: The Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized foreign origin fresh onions during a crackdown near Luk Mor Bhalwal Road.
Sources told Customs Today that Customs authorities received credible information regarding smuggling of foreign origin onions.
Soon after receiving the information, the authorities constituted a raiding party under the supervision of Superintendent Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Intelligence Officer Anser Saleemi and Adnan Chandio.
The raiding party intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration no: TKW-055 and recovered foreign origin fresh onions 28090 kilogram whose market value is Rs1.2 million. The accused Muhammad Rahim son of Noorul Din failed to produce any legal documents regarding import and possession of onions.
Customs authorities seized all the items while further investigations are still in progress till the filing of this report.
