LAHORE: The Customs Central Region has posted 28 percent growth under the head of federal excise duty (FED), collecting Rs 56 million during the month of May 2016, official data revealed.
The data disclosed that the collectorate of Customs Appraisement was able to collect Rs 4.76 million against target of Rs 15 million during the period under review.
The data further said that collectorate of Customs Preventive was able to collect Rs 29 million federal excise duty against the target Rs 9 million during the month May 2016.
On the other hand collectorate of Multan collected Rs 14 million against the target of the month Rs 10 million during the period under review.
Similarly, the collectorate of Customs Faisalabad collected Rs 7 million federal excise duty (FED) against target of Rs7.47 million during the month of May 2016. Overall the collectorate was able to collect Rs55 million federal excise duty against target of Rs42.82 million registering a growth of 28 percent during the month of May 2016.
Earlier the customs Central Region federal excise duty collection had increased by 77 percent during the month of April 2016.
The details showed that during the period, Customs Appraisement collected Rs 14 million FED against the target of Rs 11 million. The data showed that Multan collectorate gathered Rs25 million against target of Rs 19 million while Faisalabad collectorate declined from Rs7 million to Rs0.3 million.
On the whole, the Central Region collected Rs 86 million federal excise duty against Rs49 million up 77 percent against the proposed target for the month of April 2016.
The central region which consists of four collectorates is supervised by Chief Collector of Customs Samaira Nazir. The collectorate which falls under the limits of central region are collectorate of Lahore Preventive, Appraisement, Multan and Faisalabad.
