FAISALABAD: The Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) Customs Intelligence and Investigations has recovered foreign origin miscellaneous auto parts worth Rs 4,300,000 involving customs duty and taxes of Rs975,800 during crackdown.
Sources informed Customs Today, that Directorate of Customs Intelligence Assistant Director Ittrat Hussain received a tip off about some smuggling attempts. He formed a raiding team. The customs team intercepted a trailer bearing registration no: TLZ-544 near Sindh Punjab Check Post National Highway, Kot Sabzal and recovered smuggled auto parts including LCD monitor, invertor, rice cooker, power supply, pump with motor, electric blower, exercise machine, sewing machine with motor, gas burner, battery operator scooter, pressure guage and other items.
The customs team asked the accused who was identified as Sada Hussain Shah son of Ashiq Hussain Shah to produce legal documents regarding the possession of loaded goods but he failed to provide any relevant documents.
The customs team seized the goods under the Customs Act 1969 and forwarded the case to the Customs Adjudication for further proceeding.
