JOHANNESBURG: Three men were arrested on Christmas Day, while allegedly trying to smuggle currency valued at over R76 million into South Africa.
The South African Revenue Service said on Saturday that the men were stopped at the Lebombo border post with Mozambique just before sunrise and questioned about what they were carrying.
When officials conducted a search on the vehicle, they found concealed compartments containing bags of cash.
Among the currencies siezed were euros, dollars and rand.
The men were scheduled to appear in court soon.
