MOSCOW: According to preliminary data, in August 2016 Russia exported 3217.7 KMT of wheat which was 7.7% higher than in August 2015, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Over two months of season 2016/17 wheat exports from Russia increased by more than 10% – to 4771.9 KMT against 4324,2 KMT in July-August 2015/16 MY. According to UkrAgroConsult Turkey, Egypt and Bangladesh remained the main importers during this period. In August, Russia resumed supplies to Morocco having exported 180 KMT that was higher than over all the last season (172 KMT). Noteworthy, Morocco is one of the most important Ukrainian wheat markets.
Predictably, exports of Russian wheat to Iran decreased by more than three times – to 105 KMT in July-August of the current season against 372 KMT over the same period of the 2015/16 MY . Let’s add that the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation appealed to Iran to consider the possibility of lifting the ban on Russian wheat imports to Iran that is in force since March 2016. UkrAgroConsult reminders, last season Iran ranked the third in wheat exports from Russia having purchased almost 1.5 MMT.
