MOSCOW: Russia purchased 84.4 KMT of palm oil in December 2016, or 27.7% more than in the previous month (66.1 KMT), but 11% less than in December 2015. The rise in palm oil imports reversed their downward trend seen in the first months of 2016/17. In total, palm oil imports dropped almost 12% year-on-year in September-December 2016/17, to 316.4 KMT against 359.4 KMT at the same time a year earlier, reports UkrAgroConsult.
The month of December 2016 brought no drastic changes to the range of palm oil suppliers to Russia. As before, the top supplier is Indonesia (77% of total imports), but the current season features a decrease in deliveries to 244.7 KMT against 307.3 KMT a year ago.
