LAHORE: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Regional Tax Office-II (RTO-II) has attached the bank accounts of Punjab health department and recovered Rs 0.94 billion from the bank accounts of the Punjab government institution as the department were found involved in tax evasion.
According to details, during scrutiny of tax statements it was found that Punjab health department is defaulter in income taxes. On the directions of Chief Commissioner Regional Tax Office -II authorities recovers amount of Rs 0.94 billion from the bank accounts of the department. Tax amount recovered in arrears which were not paid by the Punjab health department from the Fiscal Year 2015-16.
Regional Tax Office issued many notices to the department for the payment of income tax but the department failed to pay the tax eventually the RTO-II freeze the account of the department and recovered the evaded amount. It is necessary to mention here that RTO expedited its efforts to recover outstanding dues from the companies and government departments to meet the revenue collection target set or FY 2016-17.
