LAHORE: Regional Tax Office (RTO)-II Chief Commissioner Dr Arshad Khan assured early redressal of pending refunds and sales tax cases to a delegation of importer, exporters and traders, who visited the RTO-II under the leadership of former LCCI president.
The RTO-II chief commissioner said that there is no reason that the refunds are being delayed except the shortage of the document on the part of the taxpayers. He said that the taxpayers can also go to the newly-made Taxpayers Grievances Redressal Committee consisting chief commissioner, LCCI president and Tax Bar association president. The committee would review the case and act accordingly. He said that the committee would review various refunds related matter after every fifteen days which would help resolve the refund related cases.
Responding to the delegations’ demand of revision of format of the return form, he said that the issue of revision of return form has nothing to do with the RTO. However, he would forward the businessmen’s proposal. He hoped that following the establishment of the committee the process of refund will be expedite.
Ex-LCCI president Irfan Qasier also hoped for early redressal of traders’ tax-related issues following the hours long meeting with the chief commissioner. Traders and industrialists including LCCI Executive Committee member Shakeel Ahmad, Mehmood Ghaznavi and others also attended the meeting. Commissioner Shahzad Tahir Zaman, Additional commissioner Dr Yasmin Fatima, Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmad, Imtiaz Ahmad, Asim Ahnad and other officials of RTO-II were also present on the occasion.
