LAHORE: The Pakistan Customs Preventive on Friday has sealed the Zainab Duty Free Shop at the Allama Iqbal International Airport as it caused a big loss to national kitty.
Collector Customs Zulfiqar Chaudhary directed the customs officials to monitor the said duty free shop. The Pakistan Customs Preventive has also composed an investigation report against the duty free shop. It has also directed in the report to cancel the licence of Zainab Duty Free Shop.
On directions of Collector Customs, Deputy Collector Naveed-ul-Rehman Bhagvi took this action against the shop and sealed all of its outlets at the Allama Iqbal International Airport. It is pertinent to mention here that the sealed shop has three outlets at the Lahore airport.
Owners and staff of the shop also informed the customs of revengeful consequences. In the initial investigation, shop was allegedly found in embezzlement of Rs6million.
On the other hand on Friday, Customs officials have confiscated about four alcohol bottles from passengers travelling by different flights during a raid on the Allama Iqbal International Airport.
The officers conducted operations in different flights coming from Dubai to Lahore. The customs has also confiscated one LED of 32 inches from a passenger. A number of cell phones and mobile accessories were also recovered. The security officers have launched an investigation into the matter.
