ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to install a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) air-mix plant in in Awaran, Balochistan within 6 to 8 months for providing gas to the locals through natural gas pipelines.

Sources in Sui Southern Gas Company said that the said period would be consumed in purchasing and transporting plant to Awaran, and the residents would get gas in next 6-8 months.

The LPG would be provided at the same price natural gas and the government would pay the subsidy.  The domestic consumers’ tariff in different parts of the country starts from Rs106.14 per mmbtu.

It is pertinent to mention here that the project was started on the direction of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who during his visit to the town announced to make it a model village. The PM visited the area after a 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit District Awaran, killing more than 380 people and destroying thousands of homes, last year.
