ISLAMABAD: Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid on Wednesday informed the Senate that reference had been filed with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in DHA Lahore, Rawalpindi mega scam.
Winding up discussion on the motion regarding reported failure of NAB to continue investigation in Rs.19 billion mega scam in DHA Lahore and DHA Rawalpindi, the minister said an agreement was inked between DHA and a private company to develop DHA City Project. However, he said the project was launched without any layout plan and Non Objection Certificate. The minister said three persons were arrested into the alleged scam while two persons were declared proclaimed offenders.
Properties of the accused had been frozen, he added. He said under the project, there was a plan to purchase 25,000 kanals of land and the project was launched on June 12, 2010.
He said some 13000 kanals of land was purchased for the project. Earlier, speaking on the motion, Farhatullah Babar said in-camera meeting of the Senate Committee was convened into the matter. The committee was briefed about the matter but no avail, he said. Later the House was adjourned to meet again on Thursday at 3:00 pm.
