KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Thursday visited the 8th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS),2014 which started on Monday (December 1) with the theme “Arms for Peace” at Expo Center, Karachi.
Senior army officers, former Vice Admiral (r) Muhammad Zubair and foreign delegates were also present on the occasion.
During the visit, the Chief of Army Staff exchanged views with the delegates of foreign countries. The Chief of Army Staff during his visit to IDEAS,2014 expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements made in connection with holding the exhibition.
He visited different stalls setup in the exhibition where the latest ammunition including tanks, aircrafts, arms and other defence products were displayed.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Defence Exhibition-IDEAS, 2014 was lasted for four days in all six halls of the Expo Center and concluded on Thursday.
407 total arms and ammunition companies including 337 foreign and 70 local companies took part in the 8th IDEAS Exhibition.
Al-Khalid tanks, Al-Zarar tanks, missile boats, ballistic missiles, JF-17 thunder fighter jets, ‘Mushaak’ training jets and drone jets were displayed in the Defence Exhibition.
The arms and ammunition stalls of foreign countries including Turkey, China, Belarus, Russia, Germany and others were also setup in the Exhibition.
Bulletproof cars, armored carriers, tanks and other defence equipment were also displayed in the Exhibition.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday had inaugurated the 8th IDEAS Exhibition. Strict security measures in and around exhibition area were witnessed throughout the Exhibition from Dec1- 4. The security personnel including army, Rangers and Police cordoned-off the entire area and University Road.
