QUETTA: Customs Collectorate team deputed at Surab Check Post seized huge quantity of smuggled Iranian diesel while at customs Check Post Kolpur impounded titanic amount of Indian origin smuggled betel nuts.
Sources told Customs Today that Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) already directed customs authorities to curb all kind of smuggling of illegal oil/diesel and non-customs paid (NCP) vehicles. He said that after receiving credible information that huge quantity of smuggled diesel and betel nuts will be smuggled through Surab and Kolpur check post, the customs team deputed at both check posts enhanced the checking of vhicles.
He said that Customs staff intercepted a truck bearing registration no: TKH. 470 and seized 16500 kilogram smuggled foreign origin betel nuts.
During second operation, the staff of customs check post Kolpur seized 32,000 liters Iranin Diesel. Sources said that in both cases the vehicles along with smuggled goods were also impounded while the total value of goods and vehicles is Rs30 million. The cases have been registered while further investigation is still underway.
Collector Ashraf Ali appreciated the role of the team comprising Superintendent Abdul Razzaq, Inspectors Ghulam Hussan Khoso and Ahmed Nawaz Zehri.
