KARACHI: The Customs Quetta has recovered a huge quantity of split air conditioners during a crackdown, while during another action the customs authorities seized smuggled laptops.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Jahanzaib Abbasi received secret information that a huge quantity of electronic goods are being smuggled outside Quetta. He immediately constituted a raiding party comprising Inspector Shakeel Ali, Inspector Malik Qayyum, Inspector Sohail Khanzada and others. The team established various check points in the city and started checking of vehicles.
During checking the team intercepted a truck and recovered 80 split air conditioners which were loaded on the truck. The customs team asked the driver of the truck to produce legal documents regarding possession and transportation of these split air conditioners, but the driver failed to show any legal documents. Customs team seized all the split air conditioners and registered a case of smuggling against accused persons.
During another action customs authorities recovered non-duty paid laptops. Sources said that after receiving secret information customs team started checking of vehicles and recovered 200 laptops from a passenger bus which were being smuggled from Hyderabad. The two passengers who claimed the ownership of laptops failed to show any documents about possession of laptops. Customs team seized the laptops and registered a case against accused persons.
