KARACHI: The Directorate Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta took into possession Iranian diesel worth Rs7.50million including an oil tanker.
Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta Muhammad Akram Ch received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle Iranian diesel from Quetta into Karachi.
He immediately constituted a raiding team. Team In-Charge, Preventive, Zahid Raja and others enhanced the surveillance at Quetta near Faroqi Shaheed Check-Post and started a thorough searching of the vehicles. During the checking operation, the team intercepted an oil tanker bearing registration No: SMK-5478 which was going from Quetta to Karachi.
During the checking, the customs team recovered 22,000 liter Iranian diesel priced at Rs7.50million. The customs team impounded the diesel and apprehended two smugglers including a trucker and a cleaner identified as Shadman and Hazrat Sher respectively.
Source said the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta are going to register an FIR against the smugglers after 48 hours. The team also took into possession the oil tanker used in the smuggling.
Source said that, in the month of March, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta impounded 158000 liter of Iranian diesel and six oil tankers used in the smuggling.
