QUETTA: Customs Collectorate team foiled a smuggling attempt by seizing foreign origin non-duty paid electronic items include TVs , chargeable speakers, monitors, juicer blenders, kitchen accessories, tea sets, dinner sets , luxury vehicles radiators, and different types of nuts bolts worth Rs 9 million, and arrested two accused persons on 24.8.2018.
Sources told Customs Today, that Collector Ashraf Ali received credible information that some smugglers are trying to smuggle non-duty electronic items out of Quetta city.
He immediately constituted a customs team comprising Inspector Zareen Ahmed Khan and Ali Sufyan and others to foil the attempt.
Following directions, the customs staff enhanced checking of vehicles at exit points of the city where a truck bearing registration GND-0218 was intercepted for checking that led to the recovery of more than 50 sets of non-duty paid TV sets, 200 chargeable speakers, 100 pieces of 17 inch computer monitors, 200 pieces of juicer blenders, 100 set of tea sets and 100 sets of dinner sets, 100 piece of radiators, and different types of nuts and bolts worth Rs 9 million.
On demand, the driver who was later identified as Abrar Ahmed failed to produce documents regarding legal import of the items therefore, the officials confiscated the items worth Rs 9 million. Customs team after registering a case of smuggling against accused persons started further investigations.
