QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated large quantity of Iranian diesel worth Rs 9 million including oil tanker being used in smuggling.
Sources told Customs Today on Tuesday afternoon that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Muhammad Akram Ch received a tip-off that some smugglers were trying to smuggle Iranian diesel from Quetta.
He immediately constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Preventive Inspector Aslam Sultan and others. The team enhanced the surveillance on the Quetta exit Highway Road and started searching vehicles. During the search operation, the team intercepted a tanker bearing registration No: QBB-8502 which was going out of Quetta.
During the checking, the customs team recovered more than 32,000 liters of Iranian diesel. The customs team seized all diesel and arrested two smugglers including truck driver, who were later identified as Mirza Shah and Shahzaid Khan.
Sources said that the Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Quetta are going to register an FIR against the smugglers after careful investigations.
