QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation foiled a bid to smuggle Iranian diesel worth Rs5.80 million during special checking on Thursday.
Sources told Customs Today that Director I&I Muhammad Akram Chaudhary received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle Iranian diesel out of Quetta.
He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Inspector Saad Ali and others. The team enhanced the surveillance on Quetta Highway and started searching of vehicles.
During the search operation, the team intercepted oil tanker bearing registration no: HDT-827 which was going outside of Quetta.
During the checking, the customs team recovered 22,000nd liters Iranian diesel worth Rs5.80 million including truck being used in smuggling.
The customs team seized all Iranian diesel and truck used in smuggling, arrested two smugglers. Sources said that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Muhammad Akram Chaudhary launched crackdown against smuggling specially Iranian diesel smuggling.
