QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation foiled a bid to smuggle Iranian diesel worth Rs 4.50 million during special checking on Thursday.
Sources told Customs Today that Director I&I Muhammad Akram Chaudhary received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle Iranian diesel out of Quetta.
He constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Inspector Rizwan Ali Khan and others. The team enhanced the surveillance on Quetta Highway and started searching of vehicles.
During the search operation, the team intercepted an oil tanker bearing registration no: BN-8302 which was going outside of Quetta.
During the checking, the customs team recovered 18,000 liters Iranian diesel worth Rs 4.50 million including truck being used in smuggling.
The customs team seized all Iranian diesel and truck and arrested three accused persons. Customs I&I team after registering a case against accused persons started investigations.
