QUETTA: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation confiscated non duty paid electronics items and other general items include LED TV, non-duty paid juicer blenders, perfumes and cosmetics items worth Rs 5.20 million on Saturday morning.
Sources told Customs Today that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Irfan Javed received a tip-off that some smugglers are trying to smuggle LED TV, non-duty paid juicer blenders, perfumes and cosmetics items from Quetta to different cities.
He immediately constituted a raiding team. The team in-charge, Asif Ghafoor and others enhanced surveillance near Bara Market and started searching of vehicles.
During the search operation, the team intercepted a small truck bearing registration no: QSL-0276 which was going out of the Quetta city.
During the checking, the customs team recovered 40 pieces of LED TV, 50 pieces of Italian made non duty paid juicer blenders, 100 bottles of perfumes, and different cosmetic items worth Rs5.20 million.
The customs team seized the all items and arrested three smugglers who were claiming of smuggling items, name Nasir Abidi, Zahoor Khan and others. The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta registered an FIR against the arrested passengers and start more investigation. Source said 6 more smugglers of this group have already arrested before three months ago.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation will start special operation against non-customs paid luxury vehicles in the mid of January 2018.
It is necessary to mention here that the Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta Irfan Javed shown very excellent performance against non-customs paid luxury vehicles in past.
