KARACHI: The Anti-Smuggling Organization of Model Customs Collectorate Quetta has seized a consignment of smuggled cell phones and narcotics during two successful raids.
Deputy Collector Jehanzaib Abbasi received information that a huge consignment of cell phones was being smuggled out of the city. Consequently, he informed the ASO about received information and instructed them to curb the smuggling. In the ASO team included Inspector Salman Ahmed Khan, Inspector Haroon Raza, Inspector Qadeer Ali and others.
On the special instructions of deputy collector, the team established check points at the exit point of the city and started checking of vehicles. During the checking of vehicles, the ASO team intercepted a Toyota high roof and recovered 350 cell phones worth Rs 7 million. The ASO officials seized the cell phones while two persons were arrested at the time of action.
In another action, the anti-smuggling squad has foiled the smuggling of narcotics. Deputy Collector Jehanzaib Abbaso received information a huge consignment of narcotics were smuggled through a passenger’s bus. On the special instructions of the deputy collector the ASO team formed check points at the exit point of the city and started the checking of vehicles. During the checking of the vehicles the team intercepted a passengers’ bus. During the search of the bus the customs officials recovered 200 Kg charas from the cavities of the bus. The ASO team seized the charas while two persons were arrested. Customs officials said that the value of seized narcotics is more than Rs 10million.
