QUETTA: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Quetta impounded Non-Duty-Paid vehicles and various smuggled goods valued Rs37.801million during initial 15 days of June’s Financial Year FY2016-17.
According to Junaid Mehmood, Deputy Collector ASO Quetta, the ASO impounded 22 NDP vehicles under Section 16 Customs Act-1969 worth Rs22.138million. During above said period, the ASO Quetta seized miscellaneous smuggled goods like diesel, auto parts, tyres, fabric, electronic goods and many other items. The value of the confiscated goods is estimated at Rs15.66million.
The ASO impounded 37 NDP vehicles during the month of May FY16-17 valued Rs39.775million whereas it did foreign origin fabrics, tyres and tubes, auto parts, mobil oil, fake foreign cigarettes, electronic goods, urea fertilizer, blankets, medicines, dinner sets/ crockeries, toiletries (shampoo, soaps, detergent powder) and miscellaneous smuggled goods worth Rs38.153million.
During 10 months (July to April 2016-17), the ASO Quetta confiscated smuggled goods valued Rs1182.18million while it did smuggled goods worth Rs86.721million during the month of April FY2016-17.
Telling the details of seized goods during the month of April, he said the ASO Quetta impounded 32 Non-Customs-Duty-paid vehicles and the estimated value of impounded NDP vehicles is Rs21.46million. The collectorate impounded 532 NDP vehicles during current financial year (July to April) FY16-17 worth Rs374.116million.
