KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Preventive Karachi has forwarded the Q-Mobile tax evasion case to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for further proceedings, following the instructions of Customs Adjudication-I Multan.
According to details, Customs Adjudication-I, last week forwarded the Q-Mobile tax evasion case to the MCC-Preventive for seeking final opinion from FBR Headquarters over the said case.
The Adjudication-I had rejected the view point of MCC-Multan on which the said Collectorate established tax evasion case against M/s Q-Mobile and its authorised dealers i.e. M/s Digicom and M/s New Allied Electronics.
The MCC-Multan had established a case of massive tax evasion against the M/s Q-Mobile and its authorised dealers, in which it stated that the company imported around 2.4 million smart phones and tried to evade duty/taxes worth Rs 772 million.
The case was in the Collectorate of Customs Adjudication for last seven months and total six hearings were conducted into the case.
Subsequently, Customs Adjudication-I Collector Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi last week forwarded the case to MCC-Preventive as per its jurisdiction, as the consignments were cleared from Karachi and restrained the MCC-Multan Collectorate to pursue the case, as the said case was not fall into its jurisdiction.
