SIALKOT: The Board of Revenue has directed the District Coordination Officers of 38 districts in Punjab to recover millions of acres land from land grabbers.
According to the directions, the DCOs have formed teams under the supervision of additional district collectors to recover the land worth billions of rupees. The mandate of the teams will be to recover the land illegally occupied by land grabbers.
The Rangers and the police will be there to assist the teams in their assigned task. It has been learnt that the authorities will go to the extent of conducting operation clean up, if required. The illegal occupiers will not only be arrested but cases against them in the concerned police stations will also be got registered. It has also been learnt that influential people including members parliament are among the land grabbers and no stone will be left unturned to get the illegally occupied land recovered from them. The DCOs will be entrusted with fullest powers to ensure recovery of illegal land.
After this move, considerable unrest is being observed in the illegal occupiers of land. The land grabbers have started contacting the officials of revenue department. The revenue officials have not extended them any cooperation saying that they can do nothing to help them as the revenue record has already been computerized.
