LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation Department of Punjab has faced a huge loss of Rs 40 million due to strike by All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA).
According to details, Excise Punjab has faced this loss due to boycott of the official work by the clerks of the department. On Tuesday and Wednesday, a number of clerks and other staff members participate in the protest and sit-in organized by APCA at the Mall Road.
Due to shortage of staff Punjab Excise suffer huge revenue shortfall in the wake of token tax, property tax and other taxes well.
According to high officials of Excise Department total losses due to this protest has reached to Rs 40 million. Anyhow Excise Department is willing to overcome this shortage soon. Now sit-in has suspended after negotiations with the Punjab government and staff has started work in office as per routine.
