RAWALPINDI: Due to decrease in price of petroleum products in international market the fare of public transports has also been decreased up to 7% in Rawalpindi. Transport authorities has issued new fare lists to transported with the instructions to paste list prominently in the vehicles and also warned for strict action against violators. The Punjab government had ordered all the transport authorities to reduce fare to the extent of 7% for all inter city, urban and rural routs.
Further Federal government has also announced to decrease in fare of Rail cars. Public claims that they have not been given the facilities in reduction of fares and still they are paying the old fares. It was also complained by public that a little hike in fuel prices suddenly results increase in fares but decrease in prices have not changed the attitude of transporters about alteration of fare prices.
However transporters said that fuel is not the only thing to run the vehicle and the 7% decrease in transport fares from government is not a fair idea.
