KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) Tuesday gained 411.85 points to take the tally to 43253.26 points level.
The stocks recorded the highest trading level of 43297.41 points and lowest level of 42841.41 points, with the volume of over 218.57 million shares and value of Rs11.26 billion. As many as 360 companies were active; of which 236 advanced, 112 declined and 12 remained unchanged.
Dost Steels Ltd was the volume leader with 27.28 million shares, adding Rs0.63 to reach Rs13.22. It was followed by WorldCall Telecom with 16.41 million shares, gaining Rs0.49 to end at Rs3.75 and TRG Pak Ltd with 15.45 million shares, surging Rs1.09 to close at Rs40.76.
The top three gainers were Rafhan Maize with price per share of 7486.30 (225.59), Nestle Pakistan with price per share of 13000 (103.33) and Sapphire Tex of 2044.75 (97.34).
The top three losers were Colgate Palmolive with price per share of 2203.75 (-96.25), Khyber Tobacco with price per share of 807.49 (-42.49) and Abbott Lab share of 794.05 (-20.90).
Earlier, the PSX opened second trading day on positive note and added 250.55 points to cross 43,000 level and reached 43091.96 points level in early trading. The stocks remained positive till midday after gaining 169 points to reach 43010 points level.
On Monday, the stocks observed a volatile session throughout the day as the KSE 100-index, after making an intra-day high of 138 points and intra-day low of 297 points, closed at 42,841 points, 54 points up.
Top 5 index point contributors were MCB (up 4.2%), FFC (5%), NESTLE (4.4%), EFERT (4.7%) & ENGRO (1.7%), adding 230 points while HBL (down 1 4%) LUCK (2 3%) HUBC (1 6%), BAHL (2%) & DGKC (down 1 9%) eroded 134 points. On the sector front, fertilizers added 155 points, food added 49 points; while cements shed 27 points & autos declined by 26 points.
Scrips of total 367 active companies participated in the session of which 138 closed in advance, 213 in decline while 16 remained unchanged. Market volumes remained low as total volume for the all-share index touched 114 million shares, 43% down from the last trading day. While traded value decreased to Rs7.4b/ $7.1m.
