KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed variation in trading but closed positive after adding 93.77 points to take the tally to 43347.03 points level.
The stocks recorded the highest trading level of 43435.92 points and lowest level of 43145.83 points, with the volume of 223 million shares and value of Rs12 billion. As many as 372 companies were active; of which 194 advanced, 159 declined and 19 remained unchanged.
WorldCall Telecom was the volume leader with 26.47 million shares, shedding Rs0.38 to reach Rs3.37. It was followed by TRG Pak Ltd with 24.44 million shares, gaining Rs0.21 to end at Rs40.97 and Dost Steels Ltd with 14.29 million shares, dropping Rs0.55 to close at Rs12.67.
The top three gainers were Sanofi-Aventis with price per share of 1853.25 (88.25), Indus Motor Co with price per share of 1771.36 (28.68) and National Refinery of 671.91 (28.03).
The top three losers were Rafhan Maize with price per share of 7400 (-86.30), Sapphire Fiber with price per share of 1133.56 (-59.66) and Bhanero Tex share of 765.55 (-40.29).
The stocks witnessed fluctuation in early trading and shed 11.34 points to reach 43242 points level. The PSX remained volatile till midday as the benchmark 100-index gained only 14 points to reach 43267 points level.
On Tuesday, bullish sentiments prevailed at the PSX, pushing the benchmark KSE 100-index up by 412 points. The index closed at 43,253 points.
E&P sector closed in the green as crude oil prices rose back to five-month high; PPL (up 0.58%) and OGDC (up 0.16%) were the major gainers of the mentioned sector. Fertilizer sector stocks witnessed strong buying and gained to contribute 118 points to the KSE 100-index, where FFC (up 5%), FATIMA (2.84%) and EFERT (2.79%) were key performers. Engineering and technology sectors dominated the session with 43m and 37m shares traded, respectively.
Traded volumes also improved by 92% DoD as a total of 219m shares were traded through the trading session. While traded value also increased to Rs11.2b/$107m. Shares of total 391 active companies were traded in the session of which 271 concluded in green, 108 in red while 12 remained unchanged.
