SIALKOT: A score of the affected people continued their strong protest in Daska city for the second day on Saturday against local travel agency’s owner, who allegedly had escaped after collecting as many as 3,000 passports and more than Rs 330 million from the local people, offering them lucrative packages of Umra and Hajj.
The affected people including women chanted slogans and they urged the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to ensure early arrest of the accused Muhammad Ikram Mughal. The affected people told that the accused had been running his travel agencies namely “Nimra Travels Daska” in Daska and Noor Kot-Shakargarh for the last several years, besides, offering the lucrative packages of Umra and Hajj to the people.
In Daska, several women and other people were of the view that they found the travel agency locked when they reached there for collecting their air tickets on the scheduled dates given them for going to Saudi Arabia. The affected people told the local police that Muhammad Ikram Mughal had fled away from the scene with more than 3,000 passports after extorting Rs 330 million from the local people by this big fraud of sending them Saudi Arabia for performing there Umra on lucrative packages.
The affectees were of the view that they had learnt that the accused had fled away to Dubai. In Daska, during this prevailing severe cold and dense foggy weather, the dozens of the affected people staged agitation sit-in in front of the said travel agency lying closed and sealed by the FIA there for the last several days. They urged FIA to ensure the early arrest of the accused for providing them relief.
Earlier, the FIA had recovered as many as 4,000 from a rented place adjacent of his travel agency in Daska a few days ago, besides, arresting the owner Muhammad Akbar of the rented place and fugitive accused Akram Mughal’s brother Tariq Mehmood Mughal from Daska.
