LISBON: Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Utilities, Financials and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower. At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 0.04%. The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT), which rose 2.71% or 0.1640 points to trade at 6.2190 at the close. Meanwhile, Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) added 2.20% or 0.0830 points to end at 3.8630 and Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) was up 2.08% or 0.0040 points to 0.1960 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR), which fell 2.13% or 0.1240 points to trade at 5.7000 at the close. Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) declined 1.15% or 0.0090 points to end at 0.7710 and Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS) was down 1.14% or 0.0630 points to 5.4660. Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 22 to 10 and 4 ended unchanged. Shares in EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.13% or 0.1240 to 5.7000.
Brent oil for February delivery was up 0.50% or 0.27 to $54.17 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.31% or 0.16 to hit $51.20 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 2.98% or 34.70 to trade at $1129.00 a troy ounce. EUR/USD was down 1.29% to 1.0398, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8372. The US Dollar Index was up 1.18% at 103.23.
