LISBON: Portuguese cement exports fell 42% last year compared with 2015, to €85 million, while output dropped 3.1%, a study by Informa D&B said.
The consultant highlighted the downward trend seen over the past years in the consumption of cement and ready concrete, though it stressed that the fall has been moderate.
The study said that domestic cement sales were 2.48 million tons in 2016, 4.8% less than in 2015, and a far cry from the 11 million tons in 2001.
The fall in foreign demand was due to the reductions by some importers, particularly Algeria.
