CANBERRA: Former Australian Minister of Police Michael Gallacher has been appointed chief executive of Ports Australia, succeeding David Anderson, who announced his decision to leave the position earlier in the year after serving ten years as chief executive.
Ports Australia said Mr Gallacher had been chosen after “an extensive nationwide recruitment process” which drew applicants from a variety of backgrounds. Mr Gallacher had been chosen for his interest in and understanding of ports and shipping, his previous experience as a party spokesperson on ports, and his skills in advocacy and policy development. He takes over the role on April 18.
