KARACHI: Importers had a sigh of relief following the resolution of issues in the examination process by the authorities concerned of Model Customs Collectorate Port Muhammad Bin Qasim.
The importers expressed their satisfaction over the examination process at Qasim International Containers Terminal (QICT) by the positive efforts of the authorities concerned of MCC Port Muhammad bin Qasim.
They said that the customs authorities have considered the issues faced by the business community during the examination process and made efforts in order to solve the problems related to the examinations at QICT.
One of the importers while sharing his views with Customs Today said that the customs authorities keeping the problems of the importers’ community in front have granted “permission to those importers at the examination yard whose consignments were laid at the QICT”.
“The issuance of permission at the examination yard by the customs authorities has played a vital role in erasing the pendency in examination and also helped the importers save their imported items as well as the dual time during the examination,” he added.
He further said that Port Muhammad bin Qasim Collector Surriya Butt and Examination Additional Collector (ADC) Shaiq Latki have played their due role in resolving the issues related to the examination.
The importers also lauded the efforts of the media through which their grievances have reached timely to the authorities concerned of the Pakistan Customs.
It is pertinent to mention here that the importers and clearing agents were facing delay in examination process during the last week. Importers said they and their representatives had been barred from the examination yard at the time of examination, which on one hand created difficulties for the trade, while on the other hand increased the pendency of imported consignments in the examination.
