PIAF chalks out market-visit programme

LAHORE: Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) has chalked out an elaborate market-visit programme to further strengthen its liaison with business community and to identify their problems.

In a statement issued, PIAF Chairman Malik Tahir Javaid said that the Association had decided to visit all the local markets and the offices of industrial associations to prepare a comprehensive report on the challenges damaging the growth of trade and industry.

Malik Tahir said that the market visits would be conducted along with the newly-elected office-bearers of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) so that they could be able to have firsthand knowledge about the issues.

He said that the recent hike in the prices of electricity and petroleum products had cause undue damage to the economic activities in the country and the new leadership of the LCCI would be asked to take up these issues with the concerned government departments.

The PIAF chairman said that the government would have to come up with a package of incentives to help industrial sector to play its role for the revival of economy. He said that The PIAF had already stressed the need for strengthening coordination between the chambers of commerce in the country.
