LAHORE: The customs authorities deputed at Alama Iqbal International Airport foiled a bid to smuggle 1,995 gram gold jewelry worth Rs 10 million by a crew member of the PIA.
Sources told Customs Today that Nuzhat Bukhari, a senior air hostess, was a part of the crew members of a PIA flight from Lahore to New York.
It was said that Nuzhat Bukhari, who is a resident of Karachi, did not declare gold jewelry which was found from her luggage when she was searched thoroughly on suspicion.
The sources said that the customs authorities when searched her luggage the officials recovered six packets of gold jewelry.
The sources said that the accused was to transport the gold jewelry to Manchester during the short stay of the plane in the city.
The sources said that the gold jewelry was recovered from the accused in the presence of Assistant Collector Asim Awan under the supervision of Superintendent Amjad Ai Chaudhary and Pervaiz Bhutta.

The sources said that the accused has been locked up in a ladies police station and will be appeared before the court of law.
