MANILA: Philips Lighting has appointed Alok Ghose (pictured) to the newly created role of market leader for ASEAN, and continues to be based in Malaysia. He will report to Murali Sivaraman, president for Philips Lighting Growth Markets.
Ghose, who was previously MD and cluster leader for Singapore, Malaysia and Exports, now leads the operations and the transformation in lighting for the Internet of Things (IoT) within ASEAN.
In a statement to A+M, Philips Lighting’s spokesperson said ASEAN is a newly-defined geography for the firm and the role was purposely created because of the high potential for synergistic opportunities across clients with similar needs in connected lighting systems for smart cities.
Ghose joined the company in 1996 and played an integral role in spearheading the evolution of lighting from conventional to LED, the press statement read. Ghose steers his teams and clients towards the IoT ecosystem, with digital lighting for public and commercial applications via Interact and Philips Hue. Interact is the company’s newly-announced IoT data-enabled platform and connected lighting systems, while Philips Hue is the company’s flagship personal wireless system to make home-lighting smarter. \Ghose also continues to champion the EyeComfort proposition for the LED consumer lighting range, as well as Brighter Lives, Better World, Philips Lighting’s commitment toward sustainability.
