PESHAWAR: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations (I&I) recovered cloth worth millions of rupees from five Toyota Corolla motor cars on Hayatabad road.
Sources told Customs Today on 29.12.2018 that Director Customs I&I Dr. Arslan Subucatageen received credible information about smuggling of non-duty paid cloth from Peshawar to Punjab. He immediately directed anti-smuggling squads to enhance checking on all exit and entry points of the city.
The ASO team with the help of Hayatabad police intercepted five Toyota Corolla cars bearing registration nos: HV-831-Islamabad, KY-235-Islamabad, LEC-07-6963, B-1508 Buner and QJ-599-Islamabad. All these were going to Punjab when intercepted near Hayatabad.
Sourced told that the vehicles were found loaded with foreign origin cloth, so these vehicles were brought to the office of Directorate of I&I Peshawar where through examination led to the recovery of 19606 yards cloth.
Sources said that estimated value of the aforementioned seized cloth and vehicles is around Rs12.9 million i.e. cloth Rs6.8 million and vehicles Rs6.1 million. A case has been registered while further investigation is underway.
