PESHAWAR: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) on Thursday seized 7 kilograms of heroin on information received by Director Arslan Subuctageen.
Sources told Customs Today, that Director Arsalan received credible information that an attempt would be made to smuggle heroin via GT from Peshawar to Punjab.
He immediately formed anti-smuggling team who established a check post near Pabbi district Nowshera and started checking of vehicles. During checking the team intercepted a Suzuki Alto bearing registration no: LEB 09-1203, he added that when I&I squad signaled the vehicle to stop the driver geared up the vehicle but after long chase he parked the vehicle and fled away.
During checking the anti-smuggling squad recovered seven kilogram of heroin powder from the speaker box of the vehicle. The staff of I&I brought the vehicle at the premises of the Directorate of I&I.
Sources told that estimated value of seize heroin is Rs3.5 million while estimated value of vehicle is Rs.0.6 million. FIR has been lodged against unidentified smugglers while further investigations are still under way till the filing of this report.
It is necessary to mention here that this is the fifth attempt of smuggling foiled by Customs Intelligence and Investigation during the month of September.
