ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar not only achieved its revenue collection target set by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) but also suppressed it as it collected Rs 19.796 billion against target of Rs 18.841 billion during fiscal year 2015-16.
Peshawar Customs Collector Qurban Ali Khan said that the the collectorate was proud of its officers who made it possible. He also appreciated his staff that worked tirelessly all the year to realise the revenue targets.
He said that in a consistent, sustained and intense effort, the target under the head of customs duty was exceeded in all four quarters of the outgoing fiscal year.
He said that against an annual net target of Rs 6,320.51 million under the head of customs duty, the collectorate raised Rs 7,203.13 million showing 14 percent increase.
While sales tax and federal excise duty collections showed some shortfalls, advance income tax collections registered a substantial collection of Rs 4,636.47 million, representing an excess of 41.04 percent over the assigned target.
Qurban Ali Khan said that the Model Customs Colletorate over all collected 19,796.17 million against the assigned target of Rs 18, 841.16 million registering 5.07 percent increase.
He said that the Peshawar Customs will not only sustain its performance but also contribute more revenue in national kitty during new fiscal year 2016-17.
It may mention here that during first 11 months of outgoing fiscal year, the Peshawar Customs collected Rs 18.192 billion against the previous year’s collection of Rs 16.026 billion. The custom showed 13.52 percent growth during the first 11 months over the last year.
