PESHAWAR: The Customs Collectorate anti-smuggling unit impounded three cars and Suzuki loaded with non-duty paid goods worth millions of rupees.
The sources informed Customs Today on Tuesday that three cars and a Suzuki were intercepted during last few days at Motorway Toll Plaza worth Rs 135.78 million.
The sources added that one Suzuki vehicle was also impounded which was loaded with NDP cloth, curtains , utensils, tyres, tubes along other goods which were brought from Kharhano Market to be carried out from Peshawar to Nowshera.
The mobile squad posted at Khamkano area of Peshawar stopped the Suzuki for routine checking. Upon asking to produce papers of goods loaded in the vehicle the driver failed to produce any document on which the ASU team impounded the vehicle and filed FIR against the accused smuggler.
The anti-smuggling units also foiled an attempt of smuggling 13 kilogram hashish which were found in the lower portion of Suzuki.
The director anti-smuggling unit at Customs Collectorate lauded the efforts of anti-smuggling measures and directed them to further shrink the circle around smuggler who not only cause defamation but a loss of million to customs exchequer.
The Collector Customs Muhammad Saeed Jadoon also praised the performance of anti-smuggling unit for seizure of NDP goods and cars.
The collector issues strict orders to curb smuggling in order to provide suitable trade environment to the genuine importers and traders.
