PESHAWAR: Collectorate of Customs Preventive has lodged an FIR against Masta Gul son of Shani Gul for attempting to smuggle gold to Afghanistan.
Sources told that a tip-off was received by Collector Preventive that huge quantity of gold would be smuggled from Peshawar to Afghanistan via Torkham on a non-duty paid Suzuki Alto (VXR) motor car.
Therefore, in compliance to the directions of Border Task Force (BTF) on Anti-Money Laundering and instructions of the Directorate of Cross Border Currency Movement, and as a result of heightened inter-agency cooperation, the Assistant Collector (Preventive) Torkham constituted a raiding party under the supervision of Inspector Rehmat Ali along with Class-IV staff namely Havaldar Tanveer Khan, Sepoys Muhammad Nadeem & Afzal Khan.
Subsequently, the suspected vehicle was spotted parked in export terminal. The said vehicle was checked which resulted in recovery of 2.16 kg of gold worth Rs15.5 million lying under the rear seat of the car.
The car was taken into possession and the above named accused driver of the car was apprehended. FIR is lodged and investigations are underway.
