PESHAWAR: The Modal Customs Collectorate collected Rs 11.556 billion taxes during the first seven months (July-January) of current fiscal year 2015-16 as compare to Rs 10.868 billion collections made during same corresponding period of last year 2014-15.
According to official data available to Customs Today, the Peshawar Customs collected Rs 4.444 billion under the head of customs duty up to January 2016, showing 24.14 percent growth over the collection of last year that stood at Rs 3.579 billion.
However, the net collection of custom duty remained Rs 4.179 billion as compare to the previous year’s net collection of Rs 3.292 billion.
In wake of sales tax on import, it collected Rs 2.872 billion as compare to the previous year’s Rs 2.871 billion and faced 9.38 percent decline.
The net collection under the head of sales tax on imports remained Rs 2.713 billion against the previous year’s Rs 3.167 billion, while the difference in net collections has been recorded at 9.36 percent.
It collected Rs1.359 billion sale tax levied as federal excise duty on palm oil against the previous year’s collection of Rs 1.777 billion. The difference has been recorded at 23.48 percent.
Under the head of sale tax value addition on commercial importers, it generated Rs 385.22 million against the previous year’s Rs 412.82 million, facing the 4.27 percent decline in collection.
The federal excise duty on import was collected to the tune of Rs 141.23 million against the previous year collection of Rs 142.53 million and collected Rs 1.3 million less revenue than previous year.
The Peshawar Customs collected Rs 2.309 billion as withholding tax against the previous year collection of Rs 1.787 billion and showed Rs 29.22 percent growth over last year.
