ISLAMABAD: The Collector Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar has recognized the extraordinary performance of the customs staff of BPS-1 to BPS-19 who seized some considerable quantity of gold at the Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA) Peshawar and recommended their names for the award of special rewards.
According to details provided to Customs Today in the form of a reliable document in which Collector MCC Peshawar Qurban Ali Khan asked the Chief Collector North Sarwat Tahira Habib to sanction special rewards in cases of seizures of the said quantity of gold at the BKIA.
It is to mention here that on the 5th of December 2016 on the flight No.PK-284, one suspected passenger named Nasir Hussain, a resident of Mohallah Shaheen Town, Warisabad, Peshawar, was physically searched at the BKIA from whose jacket some 72 foreign origin gold bars, wrapped around the waist and in the shoes of smuggler, were recovered. The total gold confiscated included 44 bars of fine gold, T. T. bars (ARY brand) and 28 bars of fine gold of T. T. bars (Suisse brand). The total weight of the gold seized was 8.398 kilogram.
It is further mentioned that the other seizure of gold confiscated on the 19th of December during a flight No: PA-611 was made at the BKIA from one Yousaf Rahman, a resident of Karimpura, Peshawar city, after his physical search. During the search, about foreign origin 39 gold slabs, concealed in his bag and shoes having the ARY brand, were recovered.
The document showed that the Collector MCC Peshawar recommended the award of special rewards in terms of Rule 3 (2) of the Customs Reward Rules 2001. The officers recommended for rewards are Fazle Samad, Additional Collector, Ashraf Ali Shah, Assistant Collector, Dilawar Khan, Deputy Superintendent, four inspectors and four sepoys.
