LAHORE: Additional Commissioner Punjab Revenue Authority Asad Aziz has said that the payment of taxes is the prime responsibility of the people and an awareness campaign has been launched to motivate the masses to pay taxes.
Addressing a seminar in Sargodha at Civil Defense Hall on the eve of ‘Tax Day’ announced by provincial government on April 10, he said that an awareness campaign had also been launched to convince the masses that paying taxes was a duty and the government from this money provides facilities to the public.
He said that the Punjab Revenue Authority was collecting taxes on 59 services after 18th amendment while taxes had been decreased over 11 services from 16 percent to 5 percent after consulting with the stakeholders.
He said that PRA had deposited Rs 163 billion revenue in the national exchequer during the last four years.
The commissioner stressed the people to get the sale receipt from hotels, restaurant after payments added that sale receipt number could also be submitted to provincial government helpline where prizes would be distributed among the winners through balloting.
